Our Goals for the league are as follows:
Team Oriented - a team is a group of 4-6 players who compete as a team on the league.
Flex - times and places of play are flexible. We realize not all communites have the ability to reserve courts. Play occurs over several weeks and is flexible enough to deal with non-dedicated courts and peoples busy schedules.
Round Robin - each team will play a match against every other team and person in the league.
Competitive - games and matches are intended to be fun but competitive; teams are assigned by the League Director to ensure teams have very similar ratings.
Social - the team aspect and the round robin format ensures the league is very social; allowing for new long lasting friendships and relationships.
A team consists of 4 or more players. Ideally each team will have 5 or 6 players so that there are substitutes to deal with vacations, sickness or other events. The League Director will organize interested participants into the same size teams and organize players into similarly skilled teams using DUPR Ratings.
A captain will be assigned to each team.
Four players will represent the team for the match. Each team will be ranked by their DUPR rating at the time of the match.
6 or 12 games (1 or 2 rounds) will be played to determine a winner. Games will be 11 win by 2.
Captains must decide before starting whether they will play one or two rounds.
Each round of play will constitute the follow games organized by ratings.
1&2 rated players play each other
3&4 rated players play each other
1&3 rated players play each other
2&4 rated players play each other
1&4 rated players play each other
2&3 rated players play each other
A tie breaker must be played if the games are tied.
A tie breaker game will be a game of 11 win by 2.
The tie breaker game will be played by the 1&2 ranked players from both teams.
Scoring:
Game scores for each match will also be entered in Global Pickleball Network. Captains of each team will be responsible for entering the scores in GPN. A scoresheet is provided at the bottom of this page, but it may be easiest to enter the scores directly into GPN at the court after each game.
Matches between teams are Round Robin, so you will play each other team once. For example, if there are 10 teams your team will play every other team one time for a total of 9 matches. Each match will occur on a seperate week.
The weekly team schedule will be published in Global Pickleball Network before the league starts.
Play may happen anytime within the week recorded in the GPN Schedule.
Captains of the two teams will make a decision where and when to play. The director will have published to the league which courts are admissible to play at.
If you are playing on public courts teams will need to rotate on and off according to the policy at your courts.
Each player on the team must play at least 60% of the matches. Team captains should ensure everyone on the team has a fair opportunity to play.
Teams must try and play with players on their own team, however a captain may choose a substitute in the event that they cannot field a 4 players for the week. The substitute must have a DUPR rating less than or equal that of the player be substituted.
A player who was assigned to play and finds that they can no longer commit MUST find a substitute otherwise the game will be forfeited and your score recorded as 11-0.
Please ensure you are aware of local policy with the courts you are using. Unless you have the ability to reserve courts for your matches you may have to share courts with others.
League winners will be decided by Team Matches, if team matches are tied then Games won and if games are tied finally by points won.
The Rules and Regulations for the league are on this website. The League director has the discretion to make final decisions where there is any ambiguity.
The DUPR website or App is used to determine a players ranking for team allocation purposes as well as to rank players at match time. Games will be entered into DUPR by the league director after each match so that these stay current and can be used in future matches. Players should be registered in DUPR and have a current rating. A Tournament director may request you join a club and event in DUPR.
Global Pickleball Network (GPN) Website is used to register players, take payments, assign teams and create schedules. Game scores for each match will also be entered in GPN. Captains of each team will be responsible for entering the scores in GPN.
